Kiss-Meat

It was April 1996, the Civil War continue. My family and I, where in Barnerville, Liberia. The war have been going on for 6 years. During this period, we had limited food, so basically we would eat kissmeat and palm butter. I remember that the food was great and the kissmeat was succulent. Such small snails but very tasty, as always with rice or fufu. It amazes me that during the time of war, everything in which you have or received, you cherish. It was a blessing to have food and be with family and friends. Through all the turmoil, we made it. Currently, when I look back I am grateful to be alive and thankful. Life as we know is a mystery, you do not know the next move. So when you see others who are above or below you; remember that everything takes time. You should be happy for where you are at, and always remember, when life is in your favor, there is nothing you cannot do. Patiently wait for your turn to shine, because it will happen.
